Here's a selection of other rides, some yet to be finalised...
SIX CORNERS CHALLENGE
A self-supported bikepacking challenge. Connect the six rideable corners of Golden Bay in 36 hours, Takaka to Takaka.
The Six Corners are: Cape Farewell Lookout, Brown Hut (start of Heaphy), Anatori River, Totaranui Beach, Rameka Track start & Trilobite Hut ). Each of these are awesome places and iconic NZ landscapes, all worthy of a visit in their own right.
No entry fees, no prizes, no tracking. You can do the "corners" in any order, but you must finish in the time limit. About 445km total, the western section is pretty flat (2000m+), the eastern section is not! (~4500m).
K500
A highly disorganised 3 day ride that can start anywhere on the classic Kahurangi Loop. You need to be off the Heaphy before December, so the last Friday in November is a good time to start and Murchison is a good place to get things rolling. Going clockwise include the OGR, Heaphy (daytime riding only!), Rameka, Baton Saddle and Porika Track for full value.
45 SOUTH
A ride loosely following the 45th parallel across New Zealand, coast to coast. The course will follow gravel roads, cycle trails and 4WD tracks, plus a little off-trail action to connect all the bits together. About 650km with plenty of up and down.
